What a Romance Writer Does When She is Not Writing:
(Or what this romance writer does…)
I’ve been writing straight for almost three years now. Made a move, and a year later the home office still has unpacked boxes and not enough bookshelves.
But this month, with a book out in stores and having just finished another project, I decided to take a writing break. So here are the things I’ve been doing:
Blogging and working on promotion for the book (On These Silken Sheets, Avon Red)
Cleaning my house (For me this is a multi day task.)
Catching up on ’09 reading
Taking mid-afternoon naps
Doing the dishes
Cooking breakfast
Paying bills
Cleaning the house.
Beta-reading other writers’ WIPs
Closing the computer
Reading
Wandering aimlessly
Going through old WIPs and assessing them for rewriting potential
Taking walks
Pilates
Dog-sitting
Making casseroles
Baking cupcakes
Watching television
Signing stock at bookstores and dropping off bookmarks
Getting embarrassed at the bookstore when my husband asks loudly from ten feet away where the erotic romance section is… (He says it was a little further than that!)
So it’s been interesting, and relaxing, and different, like taking a mental vacation even while the rest of me is still doing work. And I’m ready to write again.
Almost.

Yay for husband!
And I didn’t get my cupcake, you brat!
*Sniff* you forgot you’ve been hanging out with your divas.
Sabrina,
And here I thought the life of a writer was so glamorous… you’ve burst my bubble. Dang. And here i thought I would get out of half of those things.
You’ve ruined me for writing. Just Ruined IT.
Okay, not really but man… you could have at least acted like it was glamorous.
April
LOL!
It’s so true. And I know for me, when I am writing or editing, a few of those things don’t ever get done. : )
Thank you for the smile.

April, I forgot to mention that through it all I was as well dressed as Doris Day in any of those domestic 50s movies. Well, maybe I was as well dressed as she was in Pajama Game…
That house cleaning must be weighing on you. It’s on the list twice. Personally when I’m not writing I’m thinking about writing and wish I was writing while goofing off and not doing whatever it is I’m supposed to be doing.
Of course you were looking like Doris Day… and I always look my best scrubbing the tub and mopping the floors.
Hell, who am nI kidding. I have maids to do all of that for me. Ha. I laugh in the face of hard work. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Now, dang, where’d I put my sponge… that dang gone maid didn’t get the floor the way I like it (yeah, I do it the old fashion way, on my hands and knees. Don’t look… it will ruin my image.)
