Meet and Greet

meet-and-greet

So after listening to me yammer on for two days straight, I’m going to let you all craft this blog and open it up for questions.  Ask me what you will about writing, submitting, the business, craft, whatever.  Really, ask away.  I’ll be watching the blog for the next two days ready to answer.

We’ve been glad to have you Elizabeth! Was there anything that happened after you sold that you weren’t expecting? Is anything going like you had imagined?

Hello! Thank you so much for blogging. I was really curious about entering contests or not, as well as the development of characters. In fact, my questions are related to the second aspect.
Do you have a character chart in order to create your characters? If you do, how do you create it and what does it consist of?

Sometime ago you posted on your blog about time management and the schedule your husband worked up for you. My question is: How is that going? And aside from workshops, do you plan on sharing the information with the rest of us slackers?

Keri, there were lots of things that changed. Friends changed. Responsibilities changed. How I wrote changed. It was in many ways very unexpected, and it is different for everyone. I don’t think fundamentally I have changed, but the world perceives you differently and at times I find that uncomfortable.

Antonia, I don’t really have a chart for characters, I keep a notebook for each book, and jot notes in there just to keep straight things like eyes and hair color and names. I usually have pictures I use for characters more so just so I get a “feeling” for them. Characters to me are an ongoing process through the entire writing of the book.

Haven, the Plan works great. And yes, I’ll blog about it more in the future. I just this morning set up a plan for another writer who needs a big kick in the pants to quit whining and just write her freakin’ great book. No names.

I have a pair of pants that needs a “big ole kick” to stop whining and get to writing. I look forward to reading your plan.

I was thinking the same thing Cyndi hehe.

Maybe you and your husband can put this into a “how-to” book. I bet it’d a top seller!
