How are your resolutions holding up?

how-are-your-resolutions-holding-up

Recently a friend on an RWA loop I belong to re-posted her new years goals and gave an update on how she was holding up.  What a fabulous idea!  Usually I write them and don’t look at them again until I write my goals for the next year.

Well here are the goals that I posted at the beginning of this year and my update on them:

Writing Goals:

  1. Finish up the projects I have already started in 2007.   Hmm…  I’ve finished up some, but I’ve also come up with a thousand more!
  2. Get published!  Check!
  3. Write 3 novels (one is 90,000 and two are 60,000) Yikes!!!  I’ve started two…  I need to get cracking!
  4. Write 3 short stories  Check!
  5. Take 6 craft/theme classes Looks like I need to sign up for some classes…
  6. Write two articles. Check!
  7. Continue with all of my volunteer efforts within the chapters and groups I belong to.  Check!

Personal Goals:

  1. Participate more at my daughter’s school. Check!
  2. Continue with gym regimen.  Check!
  3. Lose the “baby” weight.  Umm… can we skip this one?  :(
  4. Gain more control of my “chores.”  I think I’ve lost even more control since I wrote this!
  5. Read more.  Check!
  6. Help my hubby build the bathroom in our basement.  Nope… we’ll be hiring someone…

So far I’ve met 7 out of 12 of my goals, which is pretty good, I’ve nixed one completely, so now I’m down to 11 goals, but I have A LOT more to do in the next five months, and I really would like to complete the last 4!!!

How are you doing on your goals?  Share!

Cheers!

Eliza

Oh, Eliza… You are good! I don’t even know what my new years resolutions were, much less if I have accomplished them. Actually thats not being totally truthful- yes, I had set a few goals for myself and I did accomplish one, but the rest???? Let me hang my head in shame- uh, not a one, sigh* Keep up the good work!!!

Great job, Eliza. I don’t even make a list. I have two that I keep in my head. Get published. Get an agent to help get published.

neither of those accomplished, but getting there. Keep going with yours!

And you made me look. I never make personal goals, but did make a list of writing goals for this year.
My biggest goal was to write more and I’ve accomplished that. I also wanted to make more time for reading. I now make it a point to fit in at least a few hours each weekend reading for pleasure. I also mailed out partials for my new Civil War romance and got two rejections. I did some cutting on my time travel and not only found a publisher, but have just completed final edits on it. I also promoted my short vampire story for The Wild Rose Press. I haven’t yet received royalties for it, so don’t know if my efforts paid off. I also entered my new CW romance in three contests, but didn’t final in any of them. The only goal I have yet to complete is to finish the outline for my sci-fi romance, but we still have five months to get that done.

Oh geez, I can’t find my list! I’m sure “organize office” was on it though. Bleh.

In my own defense, at the end of last year, I’d gotten half of The Call, so I was a little scattered. I do keep shorter term goals (monthly) to keep me on track. This month is “finish revisions” which I will do.

I think I’ll use this goose to start my 2009 goals. Hey, maybe I’ll get going on my Christmas shopping too!

Thank you ladies for your comments!

Andrea, I will admit that most of my list was also on my 2007 list…lol, one of the reasons I am so gung-ho (sp?) this year!

It will come to your Keri! Keep up your hard work, I’ve been seeing your name all over the place on loops, etc…

Thank you Susan, I’m glad you shared your list with us! Looks like you’re having a very productive year!

Jessa, that is one thing I need to do is monthly goals. I have a planner, that I write down weekly goals on, but a lot things get moved from one week to the next, and months could go by before I complete it. Good luck with your planning and with your Christmas shopping! I’m the worst with that, usually not even starting till mid-Decemeber!

I’m hearing that more and more…I’m just hoping it’s all positive!
