Bye-Bye 2007, Hello 2008
The clock is winding down and soon we’ll be saying good-bye to ‘07 and welcoming in a new year.
This time of year makes many people reflect on what they did or didn’t accomplish in the past 12 months or begin to set goals for the next 12 months. You press through your life with a fine-toothed comb to see where changes need to be made and hope to generally improve your life, thus making a happier you.
I’m no different than anyone else. I’ve been going over the things I’ve done and haven’t done or maybe even should have done. But right now I’d like to take a moment and reflect on what RI has done and will do.
At the beginning of ‘07, our group consisted of: Isabel, Laura, Emily, Lacey, Andrea, Erica and myself. Over the course of the year three of our members stepped down, so they might focus more on their personal lives, professional lives (as writers) and basically do what was right for them at the time. We do miss them and hope they never give up on the dream of being a published author, or at the very least, never give up the dream to write. We thank you for sharing your lives with us!
As a result, that meant this year we welcomed two new faces to our group: Sandra and Eliza. While it’s always hard to let go of people you’ve come to know, there is that saying, the show must go on. This is a group of aspiring authors and as long as there are books to be written, there will always be aspiring authors. I was lucky enough to find just two ladies who fit that mold.
This year has also had it’s upsets, or at the very least it upset me. For one thing, our site was down for way too long but I could move past that. No, the most crushing thing for me was that we lost so much information. So many wonderful guest author’s posts that were filled with advice. I treasure those more than anything (not to say what the ladies and I say isn’t important *wink*).
Several of the RI Ladies attended the RWA conference and had a blast. I know I met so many wonderful authors and came away with my held swimming with ideas on how to improve my writing. I truly think that even if you’re a seasoned pro, you never stop learning how to write better. Which could be why even Nora Roberts attends the conference, either that or she really likes causing everyone around her to gap with their mouths open. I, sadly, didn’t get to see Nora, but there is always next year.
Now I also look ahead, but I’ll post about that tomorrow with some very exciting news!
But for now, tell me: What did great things did you accomplish in ‘07? *this is to avoid the end of the year slumps*

Happy New Year, everyone! Best wishes and the very best to all of you.
December 31st, 2007 at 1:35 pmThe very best of New Years to all of you! You’ve got a great site going here.
I finished my first book this year, and am deep into edits. It’s been a great year, and I expect great things from everyone in ‘08!
December 31st, 2007 at 9:44 pmHappy New Year, Haven! One of the best things that happened this year is that you redesigned my blog. It’s too beautiful for words!
And speaking of words, I just realized I finished the last 1/3 of one book, wrote another complete ms (time to revise now), 2 novellas, and started a couple of things, too. Holy cow.
Now if I can just sell them, LOL.
Happy New Year to all the Romantic Inks and your guests and readers. Hope the writing journey is smooth and successful!
