Say Goodbye To What?

With a new year just around the corner it’s hard not to reflect on things that did or did not happen in the past year. Even if you didn’t want to reflect or give much thought to the next year, well, you have blogs like this that remind to you to do so hehe.

But this isn’t going to be your typical New Year Resolution blog. Nah, been there, done that. How about..what you are most proud of this past year.

I suppose since it’s my topic I’ll start:

1) I’m shocked and still amazed at how Romantic Inks (formally Inclined) has grown. It seems just yesterday I was emailing some ladies I hardly knew asking them to join a group that talked about writing.

2) I’m still getting use to the difference between Texas and Louisiana. Never thought I’d move away from Texas, but sometimes change is good.

3) I’m proud of myself for sticking out Avon FanLit and walking away both the confidence that I can write under pressure and that I do have a bit of thick skin.

4) I’m proud of my girls (as I call them, even though they aren’t mine nor are they girls), both new and old, who have braved this year with me (not as in dealing with me, but where here with me lol).

5) I took on turning 30 with such grace that my sister gave up teasing me about it.

6) Celebrated 5 years of marriage (yesterday) to someone I never would have imagined for myself, but wouldn’t turn lose for all the money in the world. Maybe Johnny Depp…Nah, just kidding.

And a very important proud moment that does look forward to the future:

7) The ideas, hopes and dreams are still burning bright! And with the turning of the page in this chapter, I will begin a new one. To put that in English: I have every intention of meeting my writing goals I’ve set for myself for the upcoming year!

So now that I’ve either bored you to tears or made you weeping thinking of all your past moments, I ask you to share them with us!

Also! Don’t think you could get off that easy do you? We would like to give a huge Thank You to Julianne for dropping by for a few days.

And don’t forget, we’ll be bringing in the New Year with Jenna Petersen!

Both Julianne MacLean and Jenna Petersen have books out NOW!! *I got them yesterday, yay!*

Just over a year ago I decided to try my hand at this romance novelist thing. Going into 2007, I’ll be master of my own blog, president of my RWA chapter, psuedo-published with HarperCollins, member of two very tight critique groups, and of course, RI Lady.

And I did a little writing this year, too. Yesterday I received my second rejection letter. The personalized note rejected my content (not my concept) and lightly praised my willingness to take chances. Who knows? 2007 might be the year for Romance with Color! So long as I can control myself from writing unbelievable, convoluted plots…

I’m going into 2007 with the resolution to simply be ‘better.’ A better friend. A better wife. A better writer. A better person. Improve a little bit at everything I do.

Kathryn, we think your pretty wonderful around here.

Lacey, it’s only a matter of time dear. Besides, you gotta have a few rejections to ensure you stay humble. Or at least thats my opinion on it.

PJ, thanks for dropping by! Last night I bought 4 book and two days before that I bought 4 as well. I seem to have the habit of buying more books than I can read hehe.

What am I most proud of from 2006? My son. He has accomplished so much this past year and I couldn’t be more proud. :)

As far as resolutions for 2007, I plan to make time to write more on my WIP. Oh, and to clean the house more often…yeah, right. lol

    Yay! Welcome back, Jenna!

Happy New Year! I second Kathryn’s approach to resolutions. The more I think I about it the more I, too, want to be “better”.
As for accomplishments I finished my first book, it’s a piece of crap that as of right now will NOT see the light of day, nor will it line the bottom of my parrot’s cage, because I still believe in that idea and those characters. Sadly, I have decided to move on from that story. All I see is a gaping hole in the middle of that story and no immediate solution. So I shall come back to it down the road if it’s meant to be. Fear not, I have another story that I will pursue starting January 1st. Going back to our topic of resolutions my new book is part of my New Year’s resolution list.
I’ve decided to join a local RWA chapter, after becoming a RWA member. I’m cared out of my wits at the thoughts that the first meeting is less than a month away…

Another accomplishment is that I have learned to do a few things to my personal blog, thanks to Haven who started it all. I shall keep it current as much as I can.

On a very personal resolution, I hope to work on building the bridge to reconcilation with a someone whom I love and hope that I am welcomed back into that heart.

I’m looking forward to becoming once again an ovo-lacto vegetarian.

Lacey and Haven, congrats to you both on your accomplishments and resolutions for this past year and the coming one. Both of you are inspirations to me. You’ve shown that it can be done!

Kate ~ I was so fortunate to discover your books this year. I waiting on pins and needles for “Huntress”. Congrats to you and thanks for being so supportive of RI.

Oy, I just noticed a few typos. My apologies. Another resolution I’ve decided to add is to learn to type with a twenty pound cat on my lap, while a screaming parrot throws all her food on the carpet.

Hey everyone! Can’t wait to be back with you tomorrow (and my blog tomorrow also explains a bit why I havent’ been around as much). You should ALL be proud for continuing to work toward your dreams. So many people DON’T.

Kate, you are a wonderful friend. :)

As for me, I’m proud that I’m continuing to grow in the way I handle being published. I am learning (slowly) not to worry so much about what others think. To enjoy my successes as they come. It’s a slow process, but it’s coming along. :)

And yes, I have a book out! WOOHOOO!!!!

Talk to you all tomorrow and the rest of the week.
