The Perfect Man….
Is that an oxymoron? I like to think it is.
The perfect man is whatever the beholder thinks he is. Some of us like them clean and sweet, others a little dirty and bad. (How bad? Hmmmm)
One of my all time favorite heroes is Josh Hollaway–Sawyer onLost. My oh my, I used that “come a little closer and I’ll tell you what I’m thinking” smile for MY Sawyer in Whispers. I think he is unbelievably gorgeous.
George Clooney, voted sexiest man of the year by People Magazine, is also a favorite of mine. He looks like trouble in a tuxedo no matter what he is wearing. Grant Weston from Echoes was definitely a Clooney for me.
Johnny Depp–in full grunge of course–is another who I just can’t classify, but he definitely has it…whatever it is. I haven’t used him in anything I’ve worked on, but one day. What a challenge that would be. Did anyone else say YES! Dump the tweenkie Orlando Bloom and go for Jack at the end of Dead Man’s Chest?
What I think is so interesting about men and heroes, is that some of us find one thing irresistible and others want the exact opposite. I’m going to be adding pix to my posts for the week, so if you have one you want to share, send it on. eringrady2@aol.com. I can only add a few at a time so don’t despair if he doesn’t make up it up right away. He will have his moment.
So let’s talk men. A man’s eyes are what ring my bells the loudest. If I can fall in love with his eyes, the rest is icing. After that, it’s all attitude.
What rings your bells?

Erin, I so agree that it’s the eyes. After the eyes, I gotta say it’s the smile…and if that smile reaches the eyes, so much the better.
November 27th, 2006 at 10:27 amJohnny Depp could ring my bells anytime *drool*. And you’re right, you really can’t say what he has, but he’s got IT!
Haven, off to drool some more!
November 27th, 2006 at 11:04 amI agree that Johnny Depp has “it”, but I would throw him over for Orlando Bloom anyday!!
November 27th, 2006 at 11:07 amAh, like minds. I actually had other pictures posted here, but they went away. Hmmm. I’ll try again with them tomorrow.
Glad to have another “eye” person. But don’t you think attitude is just as important. I’ve seen men that I haven’t really thought were all that–and then you see them in action. Who is the guy who is the hero in King Kong. Brodie something? Or something Brodie? At first sight, he wasn’t anything to write home about. But after a few scenes, I was hooked.
November 27th, 2006 at 11:26 amOh, Adrien Brody! Yes! I was totally into the whole love scene thing and then they stopped that plot as soon as they got off the boat–which is pretty much when they lost me.
And I’m kind of leaning toward Jack myself…
Let me blaspheme for a moment: What’s wrong with Josh Hollaway’s shoulders? I know I say that every time but don’t they have surgery to firm those babies up? I want broad, straight shoulders! Stand up proud, Josh! Darn it!
November 27th, 2006 at 12:36 pmAre you saying Josh has a flaw???? See now, that proves my point exactly. I’ve never noticed anything wrong with his shoulders. (of course, I’ll be looking for it now). Possibly those bells chiming in my head were making my vision blur.
November 27th, 2006 at 1:34 pmA guy with a sparkle in his eye, a smile on his face and attitude! Now if I could just put in an order for one, I’d be all set.
I agree with you about Captain Jack Sparrow, he has IT alright, whatever IT is. I also think Orlando Bloom is a real cutie. I’ve liked him ever since LOTR. Another LOTR hunk is Karl Urban (Eomer). He also has great eyes, and the rest of him ain’t too shabby either!!
November 27th, 2006 at 2:34 pmWhat rings my bells? Washboard abs! Six-packs! Like those seen on Gerard Butler in his new movie 300 and on Olympian Jeremy Bloom.
November 27th, 2006 at 2:59 pmI’m not home so I can’t enjoy the pictures *waaaaaaah*. I’ll be back this evening when I get home to comment and *drool*. LOL

November 27th, 2006 at 3:22 pmGerard Butler, definitely.
The cover model on Gena Showalter’s Feb release THE NYMPH KING. (Gorgeous specimen.)
And I like a brooding alpha.
November 27th, 2006 at 4:17 pmWell, I always figure that the phrase the perfect man always actually means the perfect man for me. Mine. . . hmm. . . can’t think of one. Oh heck, going back to just the perfect man on the face of the earth - Sean Connery!!!
November 27th, 2006 at 5:46 pmLois
Ohhh, if Gerard Butler is who I think he is, I LOVE him. Also have a thing for Clive Owen too.
November 27th, 2006 at 8:22 pmAnd Sean Connery…sigh. Wish he was younger.
Erin, Gerard Butler is the guy in Lois’s and my avatar. He was the Phantom in the movie Phantom of the Opera. I just emailed a couple of pictures to you. Btw, fun blog. I always enjoy talking about handsome men.
November 27th, 2006 at 9:11 pmI’ll take Sean Connery “as is” *G*. I also think Daniel Day Lewis (Last of the Mohicans) is to die for. I vote for all the men mentioned here today, I’ll bring them home any day. Josh Holloway is the inspiration for my current hero, he is gorgeous!
Isabel
PS: Look forward to more pictures!
November 27th, 2006 at 9:57 pmJohnny Depp and Matthew NcConaughey. I cant define exactly what it is that grabs me…the whole package I guess
November 27th, 2006 at 11:02 pmErin, I wasn’t able to e-mail the pics to you yesterday, but between you all, you have MY perfect men covered. You did say we could have more than one, right?
Josh Holloway (Lost)
Johnny Depp (Pirates)
Gerard Butler (in any thing or nothing)
Daniel Day Lewis (Last of the Mohicans)
Sean Connery (Bond)
Manuelita, how about Gerard Butler in Beowulf and Grendel. Ooh la la. <fanning my face>
November 28th, 2006 at 12:38 amI can’t wait to meet Matt Damon… I am thinking he is one of those perfect men….
Gerard Butler! Isn’t there a huge fansite for him?
November 28th, 2006 at 7:50 amGerard also played my favorite Dracula ever in Dracula 2000 by Wes Craven.
Mesmerizing.
November 28th, 2006 at 8:25 amErin,
My blog pal Keira pointed me here and I see my other blog pals Manuelita and Lois are on the job as well. My vote is for Gerard Butler
Talk about eyes. The major part of his acting in the Phantom of the Opera was with his eyes. An amazing performance.
See my blog for that moment I discovered him in Phantom

I am amazed that People magazine did not even mention Gerry in its Sexiest Man Alive issue. After the movie 300, that will all change.
The website is http://www.gerardbutler.net and there are thousands of fan members from all over the world! Take a look at the gallery…
Cheers,
November 28th, 2006 at 8:26 amDiane (who also thinks Josh Holloway is a great dark hero!)
Hi Guys, I think I caught everyone here except for Daniel Day Lewis. Last of the Mohicans, he was wonderful, but you know, he doesn’t do it for me in anything else.
But that brings me to another omission–Mel Gibson in Braveheart? I loved him there and I loved Russell Crow in Gladiator too, though there wasn’t romance enough for me in that one. Why couldn’t he have found another love. His dead wife would have understood, don’t you think?
November 28th, 2006 at 9:31 amWhat first grabs me is a mans smile especially if it lights up his eyes. The next thing that grabs me is how intent is he paying attention to me while we’re talking. Those are the two main things I look for at first.
