Tis the Season

Well I’m doing this is orange since October is just around the corner.

I have lately delved into a world I never thought to explore….Vampire Romance!

I had never touched a vampire romance book before, the closest I got was After Midnight. hehehe. But about two weeks ago, I started reading “How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire” by Kerrelyn Sparks. This I recieved as a gift from a friend of mine, it was even autographed! Not only is this a vampire story, but a contemporary book as well. Anyone who knows me, knows I avoid contemps unless they have time-travel in them.

So IMAGINE my pleasant surprise when the book captured my attention, and I loved it! I loved it so much in fact that I ordered “Vamps and the City” the second book in the series also by KS from Amazon. So I “devour” both of these books, and then I re-read After Midnight just in time for “The Vampire Who Loved Me.” Man, I was sobbing with TVWLM towards the end.

My current read is Be Mine Tonight by Kathryn Smith…yet another vamp story, set in the year 1899. I’m almost 100 pages into it, and really like it, Chapel is sweet.

I know that some ladies just really get turned off by this type of thing, vamps and all…the blood issue, the walking undead, but I figured, it’s close to Halloween time, I can get away with this! And I really loved, and enjoyed the books.

How about you? Is there a genre you never thought you’d read, but when you did you were pleasantly surprised? Have you delved into Vampire Romance?

I’ve read a little vampire romance, but not all that much. I read some Christine Feehan and of course After Midnight. But I also read some werewolf romance (Susan Krinard) which I thought was good.

That’s pretty much all though. I’m happy to try more after recommendations of course :) And hey, it doesn’t turn me off, cause hey.. I’m a huge Spike fan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) *lol* How’s that for a sexy vampire? ;)

Loved After Midnight by Teresa Medeiros and Be Mine Tonight by Kathryn Smith. I’m currently reading The Vampire Who Loved Me also by TM. Excellent books all of them, full of romance and adventure. I’m with Michelle if you haven’t tried a vampire romance start off with the suggestions here.

Like you, Michelle, I never cared to read a vampire romance until I read After Midnight by Teresa Medeiros. I was told over and over again to give it a chance and then one day a dear friend of mine (you know who you are) sent me AM and I’ve been hooked ever since! I just loved it! I have since read Be Mine Tonight by Kathryn Smith and I cannot rave enough about it. It was one of the best books I’ve ever read. Of course, I gobbled up TVWLM when I got it–defective cover and all. LOL! I can’t wait until Night of the Huntress by Kathryn Smith comes out next February. I never thought I would ever think of a vampire as sexy, but BOY, was I wrong! Bring on the vamps! ;)
    OMG Lacey!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!! (((HUGS)))

I have only read a couple of vampire books — a couple where from the Zebra Trad Regency line and I always grabbed every one of them when they came out. The only other exception of mine is Teresa Mederios. Last summer I finally pulled out Yours Until Dawn and another book that the title’s escaping me at the moment, and just loved them. So I gave After Midnight a try and now of course I have the newest one. It still hasn’t gotten me to get others, but if it’s from an author that I just love, like in this case, I might consider it. I just have this thing that I like my vampires in the X-Files. LOL :)

I hadn’t read any paranormals until a few months ago. I started with the Sookie Stackhouse series, then Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, and Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. Now I am reading JR Ward and quite frankly am hooked!

Marg, I went over to JR Wards website, and ORDERED THREE BOOKS!!! lol. Guess I got bit by the vampire book bug, eh? hehehe.

Honestly, this’ll be great for October reads, since I’m so big into Halloween!

    Thanks for the reference!

I adore vampires. I’ve been in love with vampires since I was a little girl and saw my first Dracula movie (the one with what’s his name…hmm Frank something). Anyhow I adore them, which is one of the reasons I’m writing about one.

Anyhow, who else here simply LOVES Halloween?

    Michelle,

I never thought I’d care for fantasy romance until I read WARPRIZE by Elizabeth Vaughn. Wow - I didn’t go to bed that night. It was so great — a really engrossing read.

I’m always willing to try different sub-genres - especially if a book is recommended.

On this note, it would be WAY cool if my paranormal romance released in October. But alas, it is scheduled for Jan 08 … sooooooooooo far away.

    Best,
    Sophie
