Love at first…Bite???

Title: AFTER MIDNIGHT
Author: Teresa Medeiros
RITA Nominee: Best Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Avon/Harper Collins
My Rating: 5 Fans!!!

In this book we meet the Cabot sisters: Caroline (our heroine) Vivienne, and Portia. But what’s Caroline to do when Vivienne begins to court Adrian Kane, a viscount to be sure, but also rumored to be a vampire!!!

Her mood doesn’t improve when at a midnight supper she sees Adrian and begins to feel herself drawn to him. After receiving an invitation to attend a houseparty, the Cabot sisters arrive only to find the house an odd curiosity as well. For one, there are no mirrors, not a single one! A peek into a gallery reveals what appears to be the same man in different periods of time, stranger still is when Caroline, a sensible woman starts carrying a wooden stake on her person. Stranger still, Adrian Kane is never seen in the light of day, the moon is his sun, exactly like a vampire!

Adrian has secrets of his own to keep. The last thing he needs is Vivienne’s meddling and nosey older sister getting in the way of his plans. He is a strong man, surely he can stamp out any suspicion of himself, but Caroline is persistent. But no matter what he does, he can not avoid her company, her haunting eyes, the longing to be with her, kiss her till she is breathless; till finally he takes her in his arms and never wants to let her go.

This was such a fun book, and the first “vampire” book I’ve read. I instantly connected to Caroline and felt what she was feeling in this book. And Adrian, OMG don’t get me started! From the opening pages I was hooked! Even if it did take 2/3rds of the book before the first love scene, believe me it was worth it!

I also wait with eager anticipation for Teresa’s upcoming book, the sequel to AM, The Vampire Who Loved Me! 5 Fans waving rapidly for this Rita book!

Good job, Michelle, you made want to read this one again before Julian’s story comes out later this year.

I bought this book when it first came out and there it sits in my TBR. At this point I’ve been waiting so long that I just thought I’d hold onto it until the next book in the series comes out and then read them back to back, but now I am SO tempted to dig it out. I truly love everything of TM’s I have ever read and now I know I will love this book too.

Oh yes, Clarisse, if you can move this book up to the top of your TBR pile you won’t be dissapointed. It’s a very good story.

I agree with Isabel. Since I know you enjoyed Kathryn Smith’s book so much you’ll adore Teresa’s. I vote move it up hehe.
