What If….
Isn’t it great when unexpected inspiration strikes? There’s an innumerable amout of times I’ve just been going along, minding my own business, and WHAM! The Idea Fairy hits me on the head with her wand *TWANG* then says “Go forth and write.” ( I just wish her cousin, the Stick-to-it-ive Fairy would follow! )
I can be anywhere, in church, at the grocery store, in the bathtub, cooking (yeah right!) or even asleep. I even have a little pocket notebook scattered with ideas. Not all of them are original, very few are, but then I ask myself how I can twist the story to make it my own.
What are the most unusual places the idea fairy has visited you?
Well the most embarrassing and least liked…umm lets just say my husband hates the phrase, “hold on honey I’ve gotta write this down”. Well truth be told he’s never said that because I quickly turn my attentions to where they need to be.
Other times its in all the normal oddball places. Driving down the road, at the docs office, standing in line at the store.
June 20th, 2006 at 10:54 pmIn all honesty the oddest time I had inspiration was the last time I was so terribly sick I was worshipping the throne in the bathroom…aka toilet! Yup I was puking my guts out and though this would make a great scene for a book, so that’s what I did. In my first book, Tess pukes her guts out on her wedding night. LMAO!!!
Other times it’s been out in nature, a sunset, windy day, clear stary night, etc. I’m a very atmospheric type of person.

June 21st, 2006 at 11:19 amI get inspiration anywhere. Usually when I’m not somewhere I can actually do much about it (like at work or on the bus on my way to work).
I find that the shower is a great place for ideas too.
Can’t think of a very odd place where I’ve had any ideas though. But it’s kind of embarrassing the times they come out of nowhere. I might be talking to a colleague at work (about something entirely unrelated to writing), and suddenly something hits me.
