The Big Names in Epublishing
Today’s post will be short, just a kind of who’s who in epublishing. My favorite of course is my publisher Cobblestone Press. CP opens Friday and will provide a wide range of genres and heat levels. We can’t wait! My first release there is called Bound By Love, and it’s contemporary erotic romance. It sits at one end of the spectrum, while some of our other authors like my good friend Sara Dennis write at a sensuality level closer to what you’d read in mainstream print. My next two releases at CP will be part of a paranormal/werewolf series. You just can’t go wrong with werewolves. *vbg* Paranormal is my first love is the category most of my writing falls into.
The biggest epublisher is Ellora’s Cave. If you check out their author list you’ll see quite a few familiar names. EC publishes only erotic romance and they can get pretty hot. Their sister site is Cerridwen Press. Cerridwen is more mainstream. There are some wonderful writers working through both these houses.
There are three others I’d like to mention before I need to run. Loose ID and Liquid Silver also publish erotic romance of varying heat levels and both have a reputation for being really top notch publishers. (I hope to sell something to LID soon.) The third is Samhain Publishing. I know a few people who write for Samhain and who are very happy with them. Samhain has a large romance section but is actively acquiring mainstream also.
There are probably a dozen more that I haven’t mentioned, but there just isn’t room lol. I’ll be in and out today, but will be happy to answer questions in the comments this evening.
Neato. I’m thinking I ought to read some of the hotter stuff (for research purposes, of course). You say you’re at the hot end of the spectrum? Interesting…

Thanks a lot for these names. I know very little about the epub names, so it was good to get a list of them. The only one I really heard of before is EC, but I’m quite happy to have a look at the others.
I’ve yet to read an e-book, but I’m starting to think it’s about time to try one. When’s yours coming out?

Hey ladies! I feel like I’m checking in with mom lol. This is been a wild wild week for me.
Think of ebooks as the ‘what have you tried’ sex discussion you have with your very best-est friend.
Lacey, I am definitely on the hot end of the spectrum lol. Ebooks push a limit that I have rarely seen a print book approach. It’s about the romance, of course, but they can get really explicit and touch a lot of taboos. My Friday release does that. My upcoming werewolf books are explicit but don’t deal with the tricky subjects.
Michelle, I hope you check some out! If you’re leery about the content, I’d recommend my friend at CP, Sara Dennis, or one of the authors over at Cerridwen Press. After you read a couple, you may decided to give it a shot. Epubs make an especially good target for anything short you have that you can’t find a print home for.
Hey Emily, I readily admit to being hooked on ebooks lol. I think a lot of it is the instant gratification! I have to do most of my book shopping online anyway since our local stores have pretty limited stock. I love Amazon, but I hate having to wait a week for books I’ve already paid for lol! With ebooks, like print, there’s good and bad. When y’all decide to take the plunge I hope you check out Cobblestone and Cerridwen. For good stories, they’re my fave by far.
My first release is this Friday! I’m so excited I can’t get a thing done lol. I’ve been working on a proposal for Sil’s new Nocturne line for a week and I promised myself I’d mail it by tomorrow. I think it may be Friday though. I just can’t sit still lol.
May 31st, 2006 at 8:22 pmLoribelle, thanks for the info. I was curious about E-pubs before. But now that you’ve told us a little bit more, I’m definitely checking things out.
May 31st, 2006 at 10:10 pmThanks for the encouragment, and believe me I’m not warry, just looking into all my options.
