Hello and Introduction!
I’m a long time RI lurker. If not picking up useful writing tips, I’m laughing or commiserating with a post. RI is one of my daily haunts, so when Haven asked if I’d like to guest blog here, I jumped at the chance. Like the other posters here, I’m a writer. I’ve had many jobs over the years from law enforcement in the Army to waitressing, and this is by far my favorite. I get to create stories I love and my schedule is flexible for my family. What’s not to love?
I discovered ebooks a couple of years ago and it was love at first click. I love the different lengths available, the different heat levels, the instant gratification (no waiting for delivery!). So it’s probably no wonder that when I decided to “get serious about this writing thing”, I turned my attention to ebooks. After many books and many drafts and many rejections, I settled into my writing voice and landed my first contract this year. I’ve found a wonderful new publisher, Cobblestone Press, and hope I have a long run with them.
So that’s a little of who I am and what I write. I’m really looking forward to this week and think it’s going to be a lot of fun, but the guest blogging thing is a new experience for me. I hope y’all will let me know in the comments if there are any particular subjects you’d like me to cover this week or any questions I can answer. Let’s get the ball rolling! ![]()
(I may be a little early here. Trying to get a headstart on what’s shaping up to be a crazy Monday lol!)
Well, I would love the insight of how you create your hero and heorine. Any of your own quirks in these characters…where did their names come from? That would be a great blog for me!

Welcome, Loribelle!
We’re happy to have you here.
I would love to hear a bit about how the ebooks business works since I know very little about it. What drawbacks/advantages do you think it has compared to ‘regular’ publishing?
Looking forward to this week!

May 28th, 2006 at 4:19 pmHi Lori! I’m following you aroud the net, like your little shadow. Err, not so little. But here I am! Happy guest blogging all week!
May 28th, 2006 at 5:49 pmSo glad you could make it Loribelle. I’m interested in the pros/cons of epublishing. I know for some it’s a stepping stone to paperback.
And Monday doesn’t have to be all that bad does it? I mean it is a holiday and all that.
Have a great day.
May 28th, 2006 at 11:25 pmThanks for the warm welcome ladies!
Michelle, I’d be happy to talk about characters and how I find mine. I’ll do that tomorrow and then talk about epubbing Tuesday.
Shelli, follow me around wherever you like lol.
Haven, that’s precisely why it’ll be so crazy lol! My kids are already out of school and it’s been just nuts around here lol.
May 29th, 2006 at 12:03 amWelcome, Loribelle!
It’s always weird for me to hear about lurkers. In my imagination, it’s only me and the RI ladies on this site
(Even though I know you’re out there, Krista…damn you, say something!)
Here’s a heeeeeeelllllloooooo out there!
Speaking of lurkers, I fired up my new email address and now I’m working on my website. Both are listed on the business cards I ordered for Nationals. This is starting to feel a little bit real, ladies! Who knows…I might have my own lurkers someday.
Can’t wait to hear the epub-pub debate.
