The Missing Muse
Hope you have a wonderful day, full of smiles and laughter. Don’t forget to pamper yourself.
So, what are you going to be doing for this special day?
P.s. I know this is early but I wanted to make sure it was posted in time.
Missing
Lost: My Muse
Height: 5ft 2in Weight: 130
Last seen: About 8 months ago
Reward if found: I finish my book
Yup thats right, she’s gone missing. Many of you know the story but if not here is a quick catch-up. My laptop has a broken power supply and I can’t get it fixed. The bad luck of it all, I didn’t have time to save my last two chapters of my book. This was the last time I saw my muse.
A week or so ago I found someone to charge my battery (to laptop) just long enough so I could get to my files. Yayy it worked. But I am now missing my muse. I have no idea where she went but she hasn’t contacted me as of yet. I’m worried that she might have left me for good. So if anyone has seen my muse please tell her that I miss her and really wish she’d return.
P.S. Even though my muse is missing I have been working on my book. My husband has been helping me go over my grammar and such on the chapters I have. And slowly I’ve been updating them with the corrections. I’m hoping this will inspire my muse to return.
Have a wonderful 3 day weekend.

I’m sorry to hear that your muse has decided to go on vacation, Haven. Mine likes to do that too sometimes. I do one of two things when that happens…
1) I take a break too, waiting for her to return. (But try not to make it too long!)
2) I write anyway. If it’s crap, I’ll fix it later.
I try to go for the second option if I can, and some of the things I thought were crap as I was writing turned out to be not as bad as initially anticipated.
Also, I find that if you start writing without your muse, she’ll soon notice and get jealous and come right back!
I know it’s really difficult though. You’re sitting there and you’re forcing the words out of your fingers tapping the keyboard. It’s a very slow and strenous process, but in the end it’s usually worth it.
I wish you the best of luck in finding your muse again

Happy, happy birthday, Michelle ((hugs)) Best wishes
May 27th, 2006 at 3:45 pmHaven ~ I’m sorry you’ve misplaced your muse. But fear not, she will return! I second Emmie’s suggestion #2. Write.
When I feel like I’m losing connection with my current WIP I listen to the song that inspired the idea in the first place. Usually I start to remember what it was like, to fall in love with that story.
If I may offer another suggestion is to return to what inspired you to write this story in the first place. Where did that idea come from? Was it a movie? A song? A quote? A particular memory? There’s a posibility your muse is there remembering the very moment you came up with this story.
Be sure to let us know the moment she returns to you.

And I third the motion. When my muse takes off, I whip out my trusty pen (NOT a pencil!) and my notebook and I start scratching out the next scene. I’ve read journaling takes the pressure off ‘perfection’ and I totally agree. That’s why I use a pen instead of a pencil–once I start crossing out stuff and drawing arrows I tend to get in the mood
Good luck!
