Inside Haven’s Madness.. Also Look Who’s Coming To Visit

This is me, in all my bad spelling glory. Enjoy.

Michelle: Tell us where your inspiration came from for your WIP? What were you doing, was it something in nature, a song? Details!

Haven: I had just finished reading two novels, Amanda Ashley’s Midnight Embrace and Julia Quinn’s To Sir Phillip, With Love and suddenly I got this idea..I can do this too. At the time, of course, I thought it was going to be this easy thing to do. Sit down, write and *poof* printed book. Boy was I wrong. However, it is still my dream.

When I actually began my book I was sitting at my desk looking out the window. Bored out of my mind, since storms had knocked out the phone-lines and messed up the tv, I decided to begin my MS. The view outside is part of chapter 1…dark clouds, on the verge of busting lose(again). The gloomy mood was set.

Michelle: Hardest thing about writing for you right now?

Haven: Honestly, the fact that it’s saved on my laptop and the laptop is broken. As for the actual writing, I think figuring out how the climax for the ending would be the hardest right now. I know what’s going to happen but getting those words on the screen is a different story.

Michelle: Do you have to have absolute silence in order to write, or does melodious music play in the bacground?

Haven: The only thing that I can’t do while writing is watch tv…I get to involved. Really bad if it’s Will and Grace. I’m a music fanatic. I play music to get me in the mood for certain scenes. Disterbed for high tension, fight stuff…Etta James for the mushy love stuff hehe. And sometimes I can be strange with my songs…like why I find “The Change” by Deftones (off of Queen of the Damned soundtrack) so sexual, I haven’t a clue.

Michelle: What comes first, character or plot?

Haven: My idea actually came like a movie, playing in my head. I knew the characters and the plot-line all at once. Granted I had a things to work out..like names, titles and certain events…I call it “the filler”. But so far all my ideas play in my head like a movie. Sometimes only a scene, other times I get the whole thing.

Michelle: Tell us about your WIP please.

Haven: Ok here goes-

Lord Manning, a lonely vampire, has searched for what seems eternity to find true love. When setting eyes on Lindsey, his world erupts in flames of passion, only to know he can’t have her.

Lady Payton is facing a scandal so huge, she could be forced to leave London forever. But none of that matters, only the sweet faces of her two children who were taken by her vile husband. Thinking life couldn’t get any worse, she is about to have the one thing holding her together ripped away from her. Her home.

Lord Manning bursts into Lindsey’s world with the outragous claim that he now has ownership of her home after a card game. Instead of forcing Lindsey to the streets, Asthon agrees to let her stay and over-see the much needed repairs as he tries to repair her trust in men. But Ashton worries that she will run in fear if she ever sees the monster that lives within him. Can Ashton win Lindsey’s heart while faced with the challenge of taking back Lindsey’s children?

The stakes high, the cards have been delt, but who will win?

Michelle: How many MS does this make for you…finished MS that is?

Haven: I’ve never finished one. Bad luck has struck me more than a few times. I totally lost my first MS to a horrid pc virus. The second, current MS has seen it’s own drama and I’m not talking about between the charaters. Between illness and pc issues, it’s been a hard road, but I promise I’m not giving up.

Michelle: Favorite author(s) and why?

Haven: Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn and Jacquie D’Alessandro and most recently Jenna Petersen, Shana Galen and Robyn DeHart. They each have different voices when it comes to writing…wit, humor, sexually driven, dark and dramatic..ohh I just love them. Everytime I read one of these authors I’m just amazed at how they make everything work. It’s magical!

Michelle: When did you first begin to write your own stories?

Haven: I began writing when I was in middle school, mostly poetry. However, when in high school my english teacher gave us a writing project that changed my thinking.

He put papers in a hat and we had to draw what we were going to write about. Places, Who and Object. I drew island, mermaid and ship..how lucky could I get. In any case I got an A+ on my project with notes on the side saying he loved my dialog. Can you guess I made a bit of a love story out of this hehe.

Michelle: What genre do you write in, and why do you love it so much?

Haven: My current MS is historical paranormal featuring a love-stuck vampire. But my main love is the historical genre. I’ve always loved historical times. The way love was so innocent and corsets that that held firm hehe.

Michelle: Favorite movie growing up?

Haven: Gone With The Wind-I’ve always been a sucker for dramatic romance movies. I fell in love with this one when I was about nine or so. I was just in awe at the powerful emotions and how some events can change someone’s life.

Who’s visiting:
This next week we are being taken over by Margo Maguire…I wonder what she has in store for us…hmmmm.

    What a great interview!

I have only recently begun to read about vampires. In fact, I’ve only read two, but I loved them. They’re different, but still romantic with a HEA.

I hope to read your WIP one day, Haven. It sounds fantastic! Good luck to you.

YAY!! Margo Maguire is coming!! How great is that! :)

Hey! Great interview. I had no idea you were doing paranormal!?! Awesome!

I just came back from the electronics store and I was shocked and happy to see that USB drives are as low as $10. So there’s no excuse!
