Nostalgia and the Writer

Sorry for the late post, I got caught up in Christmas preparations!

As I did so, I thought about many happy memories of Christmases past. And I know someday, I will incorperate them into the stories I tell, as well as other memories I have of my life.

How much of your own lives do y’all put into your work?

In my WIP right now, I have borrowed a couple of things from my own life, personality to give to my heroine-Tess. Tess does needlepoint…I cross stitch! Tess is a devote to going to church, and prays often. I do this, though not as much as I should. ;)

I generally don’t put much of my own life into my manuscripts, but somethings I give my characters little traits that remind me of myself or people I know.

I have used a couple of situations of things that have happened to me in my manuscript, but it’s not a regular occurance.

For Christmas, since I write Regency I don’t imagine I’ll ever incorporate that into my manuscripts *lol* (It wasn’t very much celebrated back then.)

I’m planning on doing a small scene with a medieval Christmas, with a special gift given to the Heroine from the Hero on Christmas Eve, since Christmas day, especially in medieval times, was a religious holiday.
