Swept Away In Dreams

The tiara placed perfectly among your carefully placed curls, the feather boa gracefully wrapped around your neck you wait nervously. Your name is said and you begin to walk out onto the stage, praying with each step you can walk in grace in your new 6-in stiletto heels. Where your confronted with a full audience of fans clapping your welcome. You take your place beside Oprah to regale in your latest book that hit number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list. Aw yes your life as a world renowned author is complete.

At least in your dreams. RIGHT!

Well of course this is every dream of all unpublished authors, myself included. The trick is we all have to take that first jump and sit down and type out the stories that hide out in our minds. Often times we juggle the idea of if we should even tempt fate or head straight into the publishing world. Fact is I say go for it.

Many authors can tell you that the hardest part of writing a book is the first step of sitting down and writing. Once you do that you can live out your dreams. Well perhaps not with the tiara or feather boa but becoming a published author. After all we can’t all be Lisa Kleypas with her tiara, Karen Hawkins the queen of all things shoes or Jacquie D’Alessandro passing over the feather boa for a stylish alligator purse.

One thing about it you can’t accomplish your dreams by sitting there doing nothing. You have to reach for the stars and make one your very own. So to quote one author “sit down and write, write, write!”
